A ddcon—a leading innovator in animal nutrition from Germany—participated in the Asia Agri-Tech Expo & Forum, Taiwan Livestock Industry Exhibition held in Tainan on June 11, 2025, where it unveiled its latest feed additive: pwrPlanz® EMC. This newly developed product is formulated with medium- and long-chain fatty acids (MCFA and LCFA) and plant secondary metabolites (PSMs), demonstrating significant efficacy in countering common Gram-positive pathogens in livestock production.

The keynote presentation was delivered by Dr. Stevan Petrovic, Addcon’s Technical Application Manager, who stated:

“pwrPlanz® EMC is a highly concentrated compound that combines aromatic plant extracts, medium- and long-chain fatty acids, and functional fibers. It is specifically designed to stabilize gut microbiota in both monogastric and ruminant animals, showing excellent performance across various production environments.”

Plant secondary metabolites (PSMs) are biologically active compounds that enhance rumen fermentation, improve feed digestibility, strengthen animal health, and increase productivity. Due to their antimicrobial properties against harmful bacteria, protozoa, and methanogens, PSMs are increasingly recognized as promising alternatives to antibiotic feed additives. In pwrPlanz® EMC, the synergy between plant-derived actives and fatty acids helps strengthen intestinal structure, inhibit pathogen proliferation, and ultimately improve overall livestock performance.

Moreover, preliminary studies indicate that the product may also suppress common viruses found in feed, contributing to improved biosecurity in livestock and poultry operations.

Bienen emphasized that as the global livestock sector continues to move toward antibiotic-free production and better animal health, the launch of pwrPlanz® EMC represents an innovative solution that delivers both health benefits and production efficiency to livestock producers.
