A t the 2025 Taiwan Livestock Expo held in Tainan, Bienen proudly hosted Dr. Jenny Huai, Senior Technical Manager for Animal Nutrition at BASF (China) Co., Ltd., to deliver a keynote presentation titled “From Adversity to Advantage: Leveraging Natupulse® TS Mannanase to Enhance Feed Efficiency in Monogastrics.”

Dr. Huai addressed a widespread challenge in monogastric animal nutrition—anti-nutritional factors (ANFs) such as β-mannans, which naturally occur in feed ingredients like soybean meal. These complex carbohydrates increase the viscosity of digesta, impair nutrient absorption, damage gut health, and ultimately raise production costs.

To tackle this issue, BASF has developed Natupulse® TS, a highly effective endo-1,4-β-D-mannanase that targets and breaks down β-mannans. This enzymatic action lowers digesta viscosity, improves the digestibility of nutrients and energy, and generates manno-oligosaccharides (MOS), which act as natural prebiotics that support gut health and immunity.

Natupulse® TS is specifically formulated to deliver consistent performance, even under harsh feed processing temperatures and the acidic gastric environment, thanks to its excellent thermostability and gastric stability.

By transforming the challenges posed by β-mannans into an opportunity, Natupulse® TS empowers producers to unlock the full nutritional value of existing feed ingredients, enhance animal performance, and promote sustainable, cost-effective production systems in an increasingly competitive industry.
